A new record company
Piano Passion Records™ was established by pianist Lars Boye Jensen as a vehicle for recording and distributing his musical interpretations of various piano styles.
Music from the Golden Age of Piano
The repertoire of Piano Passion Records™ focuses exclusively upon piano transcriptions and paraphrases, a creative musical technique which celebrated its heyday during a period extending from the mid-1800s until a century later. By the mid-20th century, this genre, through which popular concert, operatic, or theatrical pieces were wonderfully transmuted into stylized piano approximations, had largely faded away.
The Artist Grand
The music is recorded in Lars Boye Jensen's private studio on his Steinway B grand piano. Although this model is slightly shorter than a full-length concert grand, it is often considered to be the Steinway Company's most successful instrument and occupies a special place in the heart of many pianists. Thus, it is often called "The Artist Grand".
State-of-the-art microphones
The microphones used for recording are from the German company Schoeps, whose products are famous for their open and warm, natural sound.
